Windows 10 is a cunt.

I've just spent the best part of a weekend stripping it out of a brand new Acer laptop.

Microsoft can just FUCK OFF.

Looks good to me Silv although there are loads of places where you can download it for free if you Google 'kmspico'.

Windows 10 is great and I heartily recommend it. I'm a photographer and video editor and so probably cane my PC as hard as anyone and I find it rock solid even with an overclocked, water-cooled 10 core machine.

It is shit. Microsoft is shit.

Re: Windows 10
If you're looking for a free Windows 10 upgrade, my understanding is that you can still achieve this through the accessibility features (and then once installed don't need any of the accessibility features to be turned on).

I've not upgraded myself yet but will do soon...much as I would rather stay on Windows 7 which is quality operating system, when Age of Empires 4 comes out (nerd alert) it's likely to need Windows 10 to play.

Re: Windows 10
A good Windows 10 installation is as good as Windows 7 and is much quicker to boot up.

Re: Windows 10
10 is really good if you know how to use it. Probably not pensioner friendly hence the issues on here. Very secure too.

Re: Windows 10
I'm a pensioner - no problem wih W10.

I've never understood this pensioners can't do computers thing.

Some of us have grown up with them right from the early days in the 80s of Sinclair ZX81s, BBC Bs, CPM and the first generation Windows 3.1. Upgrades after upgrades have bought us to W10 as well as Rasperry Pi etc.

Re: Windows 10
I use some of the Stardock software.

Makes W10 look and operate more like W7 for those of us that don't enbrace change too quickly.

Re: Windows 10
I've bought loads of these for the office, they are sound. I resisted Windows 10 but it is much better and much more secure and once I've banged classic shell, which is free, on it it looks just like windows 7.

Re: Windows 10
Was a total nightmare when I upgraded, failing internet connection, no sound, programmes stopped working, crashed regularly. If you have nothing better to do you can probably find work arounds for it all but that aint my job Microsoft released a product full of bugs! Got rid of it and reverted to 8.1.No intention of risking it again thanks!

Re: Windows 10
Just because an OS doesn't work on a particular device does not mean that it is the OS that is full of bugs necessarily.

If I upgraded one of my shit old machines to W10 then I'd expect issues, so therefore I don't do that.

Mart O 2:20 Wed Sep 13
Re: Windows 10
Exactly. Didn't upgrade any of my old machines as it was obvious from a little research that there were lots of people having problems with it on older machines.

On the new laptop I brought earlier this year, it's excellent.

Re: Windows 10
I guess if you've got an old PC full of expansion cards and XP drivers the onus is on you to find certain upgraded drivers, not Microsoft (who try to provide you with as many updated drivers as they can).

Come to think of it I had to chuck out an old network card when I upgraded but as the same functionality was built into my new motherboard it wasn't a problem.

I personally think Windows 10 is the best operating system I've ever used. I'm very glad that my Macbook Pro kept crashing whenever I tried to transcode video or anything that really pushed it. They might be good for people sitting in Starbucks browsing the internet and looking pleased with themselves but their power user-base are dwindling because it's very obvious they don't give a shit about them when they can make $300 straight profit from selling an iphone.
